Subscriptions to the Sydney loan have not reached expectations, having met competition from numerous high yielding issues,' notably’- Peruvian, six per ceiit at £9l. yielding 136 s peg cent allowing for' redemption, whereas the viold: of the bonds is only 107/2. The Peruvian issue was largely ovier-snib-scribed, but the underwriters receive 72 per cent of the Sydney issue.
