Received 11.30 a.m. to-day. LONDON, Oct. 30. “The price of such foolish language should be his immediate recall by his own Government,” says, the “Yorkshire Observer,” in a leader pointing out “Signor Carosis’ outburst in Melbourne imbles that the Australian Government is responsible for the outrage, which is absurd. If Italians are unpopular in Australia it is because the Government has been too kind to them- in the matter of legislation. Even if the police' fail to trace the authors of the outrage it would not he anv justification for Signor Carosis’ wild and whirling words. The root of thei matter is not racial antipathy, but the standard of living.” The “Star” sayis: “We shall a wait with interest Australia’s reply to Signor Carosis’ outburst, which accords with the attitude which Signor Mussolini himself, has taken with: some of his lesser neighbours, but Australia is a house of a different colour. "What does his high and mightiness the Consul propose to do. supposing the Rt. Hon. S. M. Bruce does not satisfy him. Is the. Duce to declare- war on Australia, or does: be propose to tackle the whole Emoire ?” 1
