RIFLE CLUB’S OPENING SHOOT. Beautiful weather favoured the Wav-i-iiiey ltifle Glib for tins opening shoot, which took place on Saturday afternoon, a large number of local members and visitors from Patea being present. The shooting comprised a match between teams representing the president and’ vice-president, and! the range used was the 500 yards, 10 shots' being fired. Tlie vice-president’s team proved themselves the viators -by 71 points. At the conclusion .the president welcomed tlie visitors, who in reply thanked the members of the Waverley oiub lor a most enjoyable afternoon. The local haill at Nigutuwera was well filled! on Friday evening, when the Wayeivey district members of the Plimket Society and friends gave a concert and sketch entitled “The Play’s the Tiling.” Weather conditions early in tlie evening were most unfavourable, but did) not hinder the public from attending, a good house being the result which was gratifying to the organisers. Musical items were given by Alesdaanes Tennant, D. Graves, Me Willi am, Aliss Belton and Air Orsman, while Airs Graves and All* J. Currie favoured Hie audience with elocutionary items. Aliss Bowles and Air Cowdell were the' accompanists. TJua chair was occupied by Rev. H. C. Stuart, who thanked those present for their support and the interest' takenju the concert. During tlie interval Air 11. G. Dickie, M.P., addressed the meeting and apologised for ’the error of hisi meeting and the concert haying been arranged for the same evening.
