KAIAPOI BRILL HALL BURNT VALUABLE PROPERTY LOST. (By TVlesrrapli—Press Association.) __ CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 5. Tile Kaiapoi drill hall was completely destroyed by lire 'to-night. The tire had a strong hold on the roof of the building when the alarm was given, and though the brigade was soon on the scene it had little chance ot' coping with the outbreak. The hall was erected in 1886 by the Kaiapoi Rifle Volunteers and was taken over by the Defence Oepartment in 1912; The burning of the hall will be a great loss to Kaiapoi, .is it was freely used for large public gatherings. The Kaiapoi band lost music and instruments which were insured for £2OO. A piano and crockery belonging to the Caledonian Society were also destroyed. The piano was insured for £SO. The hall contained rides, ammunition, and uniforms belonging to the Defence Department. MINOR OUTBREAKS AT DUNEDIN. DUNEDIN, Oct. 7. Seven minor outbreaks of fire occurred during the week-end, the only one of serious nature being in a fourroomed house, which was unoccupied for a fortnight and which was burned to the ground.
