LONDON WOOL SALES.
FEATURES OF THE SERIES. EFFECT OF WATERSIDHRS’ STRIKE. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) (Australian Press Association.) Received 9.30 a.m. to-day. LONDON. Oct. 4.
At the wool sales the filial offering comprised 7952 hales, of which 2744 were Australian and 1781 New Zealand. There was a miscellaneous selection of all descriptions. Crossbreds were in a limited supply, and there was an average selection of slipes. On the series as a whole the market was weak and erratic, competition slack and inanimated, while the withdrawals were, heavy. Continental support for Merinos and fine crossbreds improved during the last week. The best Merinos and finer crossbreds showed a seven and a half per cent, decline as compared with July. Others dropped ten to fifteen per cent. The Australian strike necessitated rearrangement of the selling programme and a considerable volume of new wool scheduled for sale before Christmas must be carried over the new year. . , The Bradford market shows a slightly improved tone, but the business is small.
