PERSONAL ITEMS.
Ensign Summerfield and Captain Elliott, of the local corps of the Salvation Army’ lire, owing t-p ill-health, leaving Hawera shortly, both taking up their residence in Wellington. Adjutant and Mrs. Pratt, lately arrived from England, have been appointed to Hawera and will take up their duties shortly. A vote of appreciation was accorded Mr. F. G. Treweek and T. F. McKenzie at the Hawera Cricket Club’s annual meeting last night, for their untiring and consistent efforts on behalf of the club and of the game.
At the annual smoko concert of the Okaiawa Football Club last night, occasion was taken to present the handsome medial donated by Mr. H. Kendall, of Hawera, to the keenest forward in the senior team, and this honour fell to Ike, the burly lock also of the rep team. Mr. J. O’Sullivan, in making the presentation, said that Mr. Kendall had always been a strong supporter of the club, and he had therefore great pleasure in making the presentation.
Appreciation of the long-valued service rendered to the Okaiawa* Football Club, in particular of the great game in general, over., a long period of yeans by Mr. J. O’Sullivan, was voiced by Mr. E. Cann at last night’s function at Okaiawa, when proposing the toast of the chairman.
