PATEA GIRL GUIDES.

ANNUAL MEETING (From - our own correspondent). The annual meeting of the Patea Girl Guides’ Association was held during the week, Mrs. P. 8. Finhiyson presiding. The president, Mrs Finlayson, commented upon the success of the past .year.-'when a great number of badges were gained, owing to the zealous work of the officers. Mention was also -made of the efficient manner in which the Guides had carried out their duties during the visit of the GovernorGeneral. The .report concluded by congratulating the officers, Captain T. Gibson, Lieut. C. Masters, D. Roberts, and A. Gibbs upon passing their warrant examinations and expressed the hope that the coming year would prove as successful as the past. The captain reported that the roll was now 33, with an average attendance at parades of 25. Reference was made to the successful, celebration of the first birthday of the company on May 26th last, and also to the impressive dedication of the flag ceremony held at St. George’s Anglican Church on June 3rd. The report ended by enumerating the various classes of badges won by Guides during the year, and stated that nine Guides were sue- 1 cessful in gaining their second class badges, and sixteen tlieir service stars for attendance. In addition Patrol Leaders Vera Sheikl and Shirley Roberts passed the tests for proficiency badges in cooking, needlework, signalling and embroiderers’ sections. In speaking to the report the Rev. 0. Gibson congratulated the committee and officers upon the results of their year’s work. The Brown Owls’ report stated that the roll number was 25, with an aver age attendance of If). During the year five secured class badges which were issued and nine service stars.

The anual statement of receipts and expenditure, showed receipts totalling £52 5s 2d and, expenditure £37 9s Bd, leaving a credit balance of £l4 15s 6d. The”reports were adopted. The election of officers resulted: President, Mrs. P. S. Finlayson; vicepresidents, Mesdames A. J. Gibbs, C. Honeyfield senr., and F. Naismith. Committee: —Mesdames Green, White, C. Carey, G. Rockell, Fraser, Hunger, Masters, and Misses-1. Power, T. Gibson and Hamerton (2). Hon. secretary and treasurer, Miss W. Hemingway. Hon. auditor, Mr F. T. Ray. Hearty votes of thanks to the president and secretary for their work during the year concluded the meeting.
