MONTHLY MEETING OF COMMITTEE. •

The monthly meeting of the Hawera Band •Committee was held la'st evening, at which there were present: Messrs T. Champion (chairman), 11. C. A. Fox. .’B, Swan, T. Kilpatrick, E. Gould, C. Haddon, and secretary (SV. Hawkins). An apology was received from Mr E. Dixon.

A letter of thanks and cheque for £2 2s was received from Winter .Show Company for the services of the band at the winter show. A letter from the 'St. Mary’s Flower Show Committee requesting the assistance of band at forthcoming show whs acceded to.

The con'd net or was authorised to procure membership cards for the use of .junior band. Matters in connection with the Wanganui contest, were discussed and a committee appointed to select, the contest band. The committee decided to make application to the (Borough Council for pennis'sion to hold two sacred concerts in the Opera House after church. ■ This decision was arrived at owing to the uncertainty of the weather during the ■winter months for outside .concerts and the desire of the 'committee to provide as much music as possible for the public. CON DJT.OTOTI ’S 11 H P OUT. Mr H. C. A. Fox reported that the band paraded nine times in 'the month, and considering the sickness prevalent, the attendance’s were very good. A full dre'ss parade will be held for it'lle* purpose of inspecting uniforms. .7 UN roil BAND. A meeting was held on August 1, and as an outcome, officers have been elected to keep record of all attendances, subscriptions and music,, and a suggestion was made to have cards showing amounts paid and rehearsals attended to show parents what practices their boys are attending. The officers are: D. Milroy (secretary), G. Crutch (/oil steward), G. Spavin (librarian), S. Phillips (sergeant), L. Westwood (corporal). GENFPAL. A solo competition will be held on September 5 and medals will be given for seniors and juniors. The senior roll numbers thirty and junior twenty-Three. There are one or two vacancies.
