TERRLTORIAILS SHOOTING CONTEST.
HAWERA, v. MANAIA
The' first qf a series of proposed challenge matches between rifle teams representing the HaiwienaJ and Manaia centres of B. Company, First Battalion, Ilairnaalvi Regiment, for a cup in the possession of-the company was held at Hawera last eivening. Teams of eight men each tried conclusions in difficult application and snap shooting practices the Hawera, team talcing the honours with am aggregate of 115 against Manaia’s 81. Lieut. A. W. Lawn wais in change of the range, assisted by S.-S.M. A. ID. Stevens. The teams were as follow :
Hawerai —Sergeant O. Robb (captain), Sergeant J. Moloney, Corporal J. Wilkinson, Privates It. Beahson, F, Quin, F. Frampton, H. T. Taylor, R. Stewart. Mamaiar—Q.M.S. N. Gienny (captain), Corporal B. J. Payle. Privates H. Betts N. Gate, J. Payne, N. Ansley, W. Row, J. Stevenson. Following the match the visitors were .entertained at supper at the Golden Minim Tea Rooms. Lieut. Lawn and
Sergeant Rloblb extended welcomes to the Manana team, for which Q.M.S. 'Gienny replied. Items of song, and story were interspersed in an interesting programme, concluding .with cheers for the losers of the evening’s match. It was arranged that a Hawera team would visit. Maniaiu at an early date.
