The railway'wage .provisional agreement lor a zl per cent cut all round was accepted yesterday by a majority decision of the delegates conference or the Associated Society ox Locomotive Engineers and firemen. Tim endorsement of the agreement was strongly recommended solely on tiie ground that in view of the railway situation and the general state of trade, it would be impossible to get a setter settlement. Mr J. H. Thomas at Carlisle yesterday predicted that before the end of the ween The agreement would be finally accepted by all parties. The delegates* oonrerence of the National Union of Railwaymen to-day, accepted by an overwhelming majority, the provisional agreement wiiereby wages on railways are to be reduced. The voting was 77 delegates for anil three against. It will be recalled that it was part of the agreement that the directors of railway companies should submit also (> the 2i per cent, reduction in thenfees and this co-operative effort undoubtedly had the great effect m procuring an acceptance of the reduction of wages by the men.
