CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL. Great credit is due to the headmaster and staff of the local school and all helpers responsible lor the children's rancy dress party held m the hall on Friday, August 3 the hall was very prettily decorated, malting flatting background lor the novel and picturesque costumes of the children. Prior to the serving of a bounteous supper the school headmaster (Mr L. M. Fairbrother) voiced sincere appreciation of the attendance of all adults . present, saying that the proceeds or the evening would greatly swell the funds for the schoolchildren's games. He also expressed gratitude for the generous response to the request tar donations ol supper provisions, ancl, lastly, but not least, for the splendid way in which the parents and otheis had dressed the children, their caie and thought in that respect promoting the gay spirit of the children s programme. , , , Mr T. Wipiti also made a short speech, reflecting on the splendid work done by Mr Fail-brother and the school-: teachers, to provide such a successful evening. His call for cheers received hearty response. Music was provided throughout tinevening by Messrs J.' Morgan, W . Evans and W. O’Carroll, the duties oi M C for the adult danc-mg being catried out by Mr G. Had.
