HAWERA COMPETITIONS.
A REMARKABLE RESPONSE. ENTRIES A RECORD. The continually increasing popularity of tne Hawera Musical, Elocutionary, and Dancing Competitions is amply evidenced by the growth annually in number of entries received, This year’s total has reached no less: than 625, a total which is 150 more than: last year. The number is easily a record for the society. The details are as follow: Instrumental 94 (53), vocal music, 183 (123), elocution 273 (232), dancing 75 (67). Last- year’s entries tor same sections are shown in parentheses. The competitions will be held on August. 20 to 24 (inclusive).
