FARMER GORED TO DEATH.

APPARENT ATTACK BY BULL

TRAGEDY AT OAKURA

The body of Edwin. Julian, a farmer of Oakum" who was apparently gored to death by a Jersey bull, was found last night "a short distance from his house. He was in a crouching position on a cattle track approaching a swamp. Pulled tightly around his right hand and passed over his shoulder was a chain eight or nine yards long, and attached to this was the bull. It was standing practically over the body. Mr. Julian was 1 last seen alive when he was getting his cows in at 8 o’clock on, Wednesday morning. -He was a single man, aged 59 or 60; and lived by himself in a hon.se on the property. He did not milk his herd yesterday morning, nor nut any cream out for the factory. Becoming suspicious at the man’s non-appearance later in the day, a neighbour. Mr. K. B. Marsh, began to make investigations, but it wasi rot until 6.30 p.m. that he made the discovery.

After the tragedy the bull had npnarently uprooted a small tree, for this lay across the chain, thus l tethering the- hull at the other end.
