Masters said that while it might be favourable from the viewpoint of revenue to play the game at New Plymouth, a fairer proposal to the supporters of both clubs would be to stage the fixture at a halfway ground such as Eltharn, though if wet weather were experienced Hawera would be a better ground. Air. Tyrer supported this opinion, and Air. Goodwin also urged that the convenience of the supporters of the respective clubs should- be placed be fore the question of possible reveniw to the union.

The amendment was lost, and a motion sponsored by Mr. 'Masters, that the game be played at Eltliam, was -carried by seven votes to live, a further proposal by Mr. Garcia that the venue' be Inglewood lapsing for want of a seconder. August 4 was fixed as the date of the game; on the motion of Mr. Goodwin, play to commence at 2.30 o’clock. Following representations made by Mr. Fearon, who explained that the Patea club would forfeit the game to Rawer a drawn for Saturday next, the Rawera and Okaiawa clubs were granted permission to play a match on Saturday at Hawem as a- benefit, for injured players of the Hawera Club. On the application made by Mr. Goodwin on behalf of the organisers of the Tin tana Cup game permission was given to use the- IHawera showgrounds on Wednesday next. In view of. the play-off being arranged for August 4 the committee declined permission requested bv the Star and Tukapa clubs to play the annual liiatch for the Dan o’Prion shield at New Plymouth on that date.

JUNIOR PLAY-OFF. Pending the completion of the first junior grade fixtures, the draw for the first-round of the play-off between the five division winners was made and resulted as follows: Wednesday winners to play Western. Central winners to play Southern. North winners a bye.

The winners of the Wednesday (Hawera) division and Western having already been found in City and Tukapa iit was decided, conditionally up,on the ■Hawera. team being able to travel, to .play the game as a curtain raiser to the representative game with Hawke’s Bay at New Plymouth on August 11.

The New Zealand Union advised that nominations for the North Island team .should be lodged not later than August ;5, together with individual particulars of the respective players.—Authority ■to make such nominations as he deemed worthy was given to the provincial selector, Mr. W. A. Guy. Advice of the disqualification for twelve months of D. Bailey, of Maungatnpu, by the Manawhenua Union, for disputing a referee’s decision, using obscene language, and attempting to ■assault'a referee, was received from the New Zealand; Union. * /

The proposal of the Primary Schools Union that, an alteration should be made in the age limit of 15 for entrance to, "the Bayly scholarship memorial was given further consideration, Mr. Moves pointing out that as ad- . ised by. the secretary of the Education Board the average age in country, schools at which the proficiency certificate was obtained was 14 years 10 mouths, while in the larger town schools the average was 13 years 5 months. On the motion of the chairman it was decided that the age limit be reduced from 15 years to 14 years and 3 months as at December 1.
