HAWERA CHESS CLUB.
LADDER GAMES COMMENCED. Tin 3 first ladder competitions of the Hawera Chess and Draughts Cluh was held in the Soldiers’ Club last evening. Fifteen members were in attendance, and .some exceedingly keen play was witnessed. The following are the results' of the games, showing the respective positions ol the players on the ladder:—Rainie heat J. Goldstone; C. H. King heat A. H. Larkman 1 ; Vow,esx heat C. E. Gibson; A. Raid beat J G. Hall; Mrs J. G. Hall beat Mrs S P Hart-; E. Stain ford, heat S. P. Hart: S. G. Manning a bye. Draughts.—A. Trainer beat H. Taylor.
