DAYLIGHT SAVING.

FIRST PETITION AGAINST IT. (By Telegraph—Special to The Star.) N WELLINGTON, July 24. The first petition against daylight saving made its appearance in the House to-day. It came front 1--8 dairy farmers and workers in- the neighbourhood of Dunedin. Dairymen , they state, would have to get up ill the dark all the year round, instead of having the benefit of early daylight in the summer, and the cows would lie milked too early in the afternoon before the heat of the day was over, this adding to the difficulty in deserving the milk. Se-veral other disadvantages of Bummer time law were enumerated, and the -petition concluded with a declaration that the Summer Time Act catered principally for pleasure and recreation, 'while it was a serious handicap on the primary producer, on ~ whom the- real progress of the Dominion depended. Mr, Sidey’s Bill comes, before the House for its second reading on Wednesday.
