THE SLATER CASE.
QUESTION OF COMPENSATION.. (Australian Press Association —United Service.) Received 1.50 p.m. to-day. LONDON, July 23. In the House of Commons Sir John Gilmour, replying to the Rev Campliell Stephen, said that he could not make a statement regarding any compensation to Slater. He thought it better that he first have a reasonable chance of making a claim. Major Hore-Beiisha : “Would it not be more generous for the Government to make a grant Avithout Avaiting?” .Sir John Gilmour did not reply.
