EUCHRE PARTY
The weekly euclire party last Tuesday drew a rather smaller attendance than usual, but there wa,s keen competition for the prizes. Mr. J. Gibson won the gentlemen’s prize with nine games, and Mrs. Rothe the ladies’ prize, after playing off, with Mrs. Voullaire, 1 ©acb having won seven and a half games.
GENERAL. The weather during the past week has been fine, with several frosts and junnv days. On Saturday, however, a ,'hange came from the north-east, and although until Sunday evening there had not been much rain, the weather was unpleasant and the barometer low. There have been a .number of changes locally, as is usual, but not so many as in some years. Mrs B. L. Webby lias retired from farming and gone to ! i,e in Kaponga, and (Mr. J. A. Webby is now leasing the faimi recently occupied by his late brother. Mr. W. H. Franks and family, who have resided in Riverlea for about twenty \ears have gone to Bell Block, and Mr. D. Hughes, who has come ’rom Te Kiri, is now leasing the farm where Mr Franks had resided for fourteen years. Mr' Armstrong, who has been man-ao-ino- Mr Y. C. Flack’s farm, has gone” to Te Kiri, and Mr. E. Gibbons, who was milking for Mr. James Thompson. is now in there. .Mr. J R. Jones has leased his farm to Mr. Hart, late of Rowan, and has, t is acquired a grazing •un on the East Road.
