In the House of Commons, Mi- Williams asked: “Are we to understand that every 'available practicable help Was sent to the Jervis Bay ” The Rt. Hon. W. O. Bridgeman, First Lord of the Admiralty: “Yes/’ Mr J. Wedge wood: “Wlhat is the c-ost to the British taxpayer in sending this assistance. Willi it be charged against the owners of the Jervds Bay which* made an unnecessarv call for help?” _ * Mr Bridgeman : “It is not for me to* say whether the call for help was necessary-. I will endeavour to reply to the question later.”
