Air Samuel Turner, representing J. and J. Lonsdale, Ltd., Loudon, reports the following quotations, under date July 2: — Butter.- —Market quite, 174 s to 17Gs. Cheese. —-Market firm, 100 s. WANGANUI STOCK SALE. At the stock sale at Wanganui there was a good entry of sheep and a medium entry of cattle and pigs. There was a gobd attendance and good competition in the sheep pens, at prices nardly on a par with recent sales, hut nevertheless qufte satisfactory to vendors. The market generally,, tiie last two sales lias, if anytliing, eased slight-. Jy in the buyer’s favour. These conuitious were fully expected alter the first rough weather experienced this winter. The demand was quite good throughout the sale and it is evident that there are considerably more buyers than sellers. The cattle section consisted mostly of grown bullocks for which there was no enquiry, this class of cattle being passed at auction. A few pens of Jersey yearlings; heifers as usual sold verywell. Pigs for this season of the y-ear are low m value and porkers at to-day’s sale appeared to sell at very reasonable figures; however, there is still good prices to be had for good finished porkers. To-day’s entry comprised a good proportion of very light unfinished pigs, Which would have paid well to have been held and topped up. Sheep.—4-year ewes to b.f. rams, to 35s 4d, 4 and 5-year ewes to b.f. rams 33s 3d, 5-year sound-mouth ewes to b.f. rams 30s, fat wethers 38s 39s 39s 6d, forward wethers 31s 32s 2d, store wethers (small) 2Us 2d to 28s, fat ewes, 30s, forward ewes 23s 6d, fat lambs 25s 103 to 27s Id, forward b.f, lambs, 23s to 245, store b.f. lambs 20s 2d to 225, wether- hoggets (good medium) 22s Bd. Cattle.—Yearling Jersey heifers, £4 Is to* £5, yearling Jersey cross heifers £3 to £3 10s, yearling heilers (small) 355; gtd. sound dairy cows £8 to £9 10s. Pigs.—Good porkers £2 10s, light porkers (unfinished) 26s 28s 335.6 d to 345, forward stores 22s to 245, weaners (no entry).

ADDINGTON QUOTATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, July 4. Alarket entries were much smaller at to-day’s weekly sale in the main sections of fat stock. Fat cattle, as a result, showed an advance in price. Store sheep, mostly adult- sheep and forward hoggets were better by up to Is Gd a head, ewes and wethens being unchanged. Fat Sheep.—Extra prime wethers brought 44s to s'Js Id, prime wethers 39s to 42s Gd, medium wethers 35s to 38s, light wethers 29s to 345, extra prime ewes to 43s lOd, prime ewes 33s to 375, medium ewes 29s Gd to 325, light ewes 25s to '29s, aged ewes 20s to 235. Fat Cattle. —Prime handy weight beef was better by 30s -per head, other quality to- 20s, prime beef 39s to 425, extra to 43s per lOOlbs, medium 35s to 38s, heavy 35s to 375, best heifer 38s to 41s, best cow 35s to 38s, secondary 31s to 335, and rough down to 275, extra prime heavy steers to £23 7s od, prime heavy steers £l6 10s to £l9, medium weight prime steers £ls 10 s to ;£ 17 10s 3d, ordinary quality steers £ll to £l4 10s, light steers £9 to- £ls 15s, extra prime heifers to £l7 17s Gd, prime heifers £ll 5s to £l3 10s, ordinary heifers £9 os to £ll, light heiiers- £6 to £9, extra prime cows to £l3, ordinary cows £8 to £lO ss, aged cows £5 to .£7 IQs. GOOD SALE AT BURNSIDE. T DUNEDIN, July 4. With the exception of lambs, store cattle and pigs, all classes of fat stock sold at advanced rates at the Burnside sales to-day. There was only a slight decline in the ruling prices obtained for lambs. Fat Cattle.—Prime heavy bullocks made £2O to £2l, prime £l7 to £l9, medium £l3 5s to £l4 10s, heifers £ll 5s to- £l2 10s, medium £lO 10s to £ll, best cows £lO 15s to £ll 10s. Prime heavy ox beef sold on the basis of 40s, light 42s Gd, heifers 37s 6d, and cows and light heifers 25s to 30s per lOOlbs. Fat Sheep.-—Extra heavy wethers made 49s to 535, prime heavy 44s to 47s Gd, prime light 36s 38s 9d, light 31s to 3&s Gd extra heavy ewes 38s to 40s, prime 33s 3d to 35s 9d, medium 25s to 275, light 16s to 20s. Prime light wethers sold on a basis of _7d, extra heavy 6d, heavy ewes 4id, light sd. and old ewes 4d per lb. Fat Lambs.— Extra special sold to 50s, prime heavy 37s to 40s, prime 33s 6d to 355, unfinished 23s to 27s Gd. Prime lamb sold on the basis up to Is, and light and unfinished lid per lb. Pigs.—The demand for l>otlx fats and stores was unchanged. Porkers made 53d to Gd per lb, and baconers were around 53d per lb.
