PERSONAL ITEMS.
A pleasing ceremony eventuated this afternoon when Mr V. Patterson, of Messrs. Goldstone and Patterson, Ltd., was met bv the members of the staff and was presented ibv Mr F. Spalding on behalf of Inis fellow employees, with a pipe and tobacco. The death is reported from Christchurch of Air Cecil R. Murray, aged ag. He was a former Canterbury footballer, who captained the provincial side when they defeated the •Springboks. He had been in ill health for same time. All*, and Airs. J. Mill®, who are leaving Normanby to take up their residence in Fitzroy, New Plymouth, were tendered a farewell social the other evening by a large and representative gathering of South. Taranaki residents. During the festivities several speakers voiced their appreciation and the popularity of the departing guests, and Air. Tom Robson, one of the oldest residents of the district, had the pleasure of presenting on behalf of the assemblage a handsome cushion to Mrs. Alills and a case of pipes to Air. Mills. A most pleasant evening terminated with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and a vote of thanks to Air. and Airs. Peach Replacing their residence at the disposal of the gathering. *
