July 3 Tn the House of Commons the Finance Bill debate created an exciting situation and the most formidable revolt. of the Conservative during The present Parliament. Sir 11. C. Buckingham moved to delete the provision that the estate of a deceased super-tax payer should be changed for the last full year of his life, contending that this Would 'entail the payment of double tax for the year and the Treasury would unjustly gain £1,000,000 a year. Sir Robert'.Horne, /Sir J. A. R. Marriott and the .Hon. J. Gre'tfon joined in tlie protest. The Labour members did not participate, but interrupted and jeered. iSir 11. 0. Buckingham pressed the motion to a division, but it was defeated by -200 votes to 50, Labour mem. hers and Liberals not voting.
