FRIESIAN BREEDERS.
TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The business far the year and general mat tiers of intenesb to the breed, occupied the attention of members present at the 'annua. 1 , meeting of the Taranaki, branch of the New Zealand Eriesia.ll Association this morning, Mir. C. Ma.rcha.nt. president, being in the cha.i.r and members in attendance representing the various parts of the province. Pile president, in a verbal report, said he regretted that there weip not mope members present, but they were, ‘‘.stout in heart” and determined to foster everything of interest to the breed. He Ha.id that activities for the year had; not been so marked a.s before, but they had ‘all been marking 'time waiting for fhe important .report- by Air Yea.le on the Tokaora. experiment, .and the position the breed held in this test. Ti:i? association catered for prizes ait the various shows, and helped the breed in this wav. They hoped to make the greatest- use of the advertising matter contained in the report. 'Phe statement of accounts .showed a sound financial position. Subscriptions totalled £6, subsidy donations £l6 5s fid, while expenditure included pamphlets £5 16s. Figment, New Plymouth and Stratford special .prizes £5 os, sundrv £3 3s. 7d, and honorarium to secretary £ls. _ Sonii? discussion «took pua.ee on the matter of outstanding subscriptions, and it. was agreed that a serious effortshould be made to .secure them, the value of local effort being stressed in this question. Mr H. Merchant -explained that Mr KalaiUigher and the co-uncil were straining every nerve to attain this retslu.lt. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The election of officers resulted as under: —President, Mr C. Marcliant; committee, Messrs H. E. Johnson (Hawem), H. J. M-a.rchant (Cardiff), C. W. Baldwin (Inglewood), A. J. Smart (Tikorangi), H. Johnson (Stratford), Morris (Oakum). Mr Morris referred to. the fact than at New Plymouth there was not a Friesian breeder doing the judging in the Friesian grade division, and the Boys’ and Girls’ Club .section. On Jus mot-ion, it was agreed to ask tli© New Plymouth. Society to bring the matter under the notice of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs’ committee. It was agreed that Mr J. Barr be reappointed secretary, .and that be be given ail honorarium of £ls. It was unanimously agreed that Mr Barr had done excellent work for the ais&ocration. Mr Barr suitably acknowledged, the vote, expressing the. hope that the work of the .society would posper, and congratulating them sincerely on the suc- <"!?«« of the'recent test at- Tokaora-. Votes of thanks to the Press and to the Egmont A. and P. Association for use of room concluded a good meeting.
