FIRST WIN TO A. G. MOORE

The first of the isea-som's series of c.yc-le road- races in the Cambria Rose Bowl competition conducted by the Hawera Amateur Athletic Club, took place this afternoon, when twelve riders, including J. Dykes-, this- winner of the trophy last season, faced- the starter. Weather conditions were fine, though -cloudy, when the race commenced, but the tar-sealed roads over the 17-mile course from the Ha worn Post Office to 0-kaiawa, via Normanby, and returning to Hawera via the- Mam South Road, were slippery as the result of this morning's rain. The controlling officials were as follow:—Messers, L. Marter (starter), 'H. (McCabe (timekeeper), A. Grant, M. R. Jones and H. McCabe (judges), W. A. Spragg. G. Hostick, and F. Foden inspectors). and R. Allen (secretary). Tliej limit riders, L. Peppered and H. F. Sen-ton left at 2 o’clock with an advantage of four and a half minutes from the scratch men. Others following in succession were:—A. Dykes (4 mins), A. Kennedy, S. W. Ke 1 sen 3 min. 30see), G. Ingram, A. G. Moure (3mins.). R. B. Springer, of Wanganui (2min SOsecs). H. ,T. C. Kel-sen (Imm). and G. Griffin, AY. Stoning and J. Dykes (scr.). In the vicinity of the Hawera railway station H.‘ J. C. Kelson experienced a, -musty srpill. but remounted to continue the journey. Turning for home at the corner of the Alain South Road and Princes Street, Aloore and Ingram held the lead on even terms, but the bend caused Ingram to crash, and Aloore Avent on to Avin comfortably .from Seaton, Avitli Stening 100 yards back, just clear of Dykes, Griffen, and H. J. C. Kelsen. Then came Ingram, Springer, Kennedy, A. Dykes and S. W. Kelsen.
