Received 1.20 p.m. to-day. LONDON, June 19. The aeroplane Friendship arrived at Southampton amid rousing cheers and roar, s of steamers-’ sirens. The aviators then motored to Lon dun, _ where- they were met by dense cheering crowds. They stayed at Hyde Park Hotel, where they were interviewed by newspaper men. LONDON. June 19. When the Friendship was circling the steamer America two -notes the aviators dropped fell into the p.ea, whereupon the captain ordered the ship’s position to be written in bold 1 letters on the ship’s deck. The plane then continued its flight. The fliers had to throw out almost all the equipment, because they did not know how long the petrol would last. They did see Ireland as -they passed over part of it in the dark. Sturtz thought Carmarthenshire was Land’s End. “I was not friglitenedi for one single minute with such a pilot and. .smell a. machine, and I would do the flight again to-morrow,” Alias TEarhart told the “Daiiv Express.” “I was in the rear cabin most of the journey.
