(From Our Own Correspondent.) Owing to weather conditions and the •l ews of the fishing fleet being engaged : n renewing the landing stage, the boats have not been out during the 'ast week. The concrete work in connection with the landing stage at the boats'ied, mder the supervision of Mr. M. Luke, is making good progress. The conrete protective wall, which is 40ft Sin .ring and six inches thik, with three •trong concrete struts, was completed in Saturday last. The contractors for the supply of n a to: ini from the beach are at present inding an extreme shortage in the •pn>’ired sorts The suggestions made by the Domain hoard at its annual meeting on Wedmsday last are so far meeting with the apnrovnl of those interested in ti e Obawe district. If adopted the recommendations will relieve a long-felt want. Wlrat seems to have been a deliberate act of vandalism was perpetrated ->t the bathing sheds at the beach last week. Some unknown person threw a -tone through the skylight of the ‘ tidies’ dressing room, completely smashing the glass. Strict inquiries re being made to find the culprit. It voulci lie a wise action to lock . the sheds during the off season. Several of the Ohawo settlers have 'llreadv put in their early potatoes in veil sheltered parts.
