RAID AT OPUNAKE.
ATTEMPT :0N STORE SAFE. INTRUDERS’ FRUITLESS QUEST (From Our Own Correspondent).
During the early hours, of yesterday morning burglars made a-ii unsuccessful attempt on the safe of the Magnet Store, managed by Mr H. J. Mantey. Entry to tno building was gained by breaking a window. It appears that the safe was the main object, for it was shifted out of its pia.be and an endeavour was made to open it, but the intruder, or intruders. must have .been disturbed, for as far as can be ascertained nothing was .stolen, though pumerous articles wfflo scattered about. This is the second raid made on local, stores on .recent dates. The grocery department of Messrs Hughsons, Ltd.. was broken into about two months ago, when tobacco and oirgarettes were stolen.
