’PLANE FRIENDSHIP MAKES A DASH.
(Australian Press Association —United Service.) Received 9.55 a.m. to-day. NEW YORK, June 17. A message from Trespass Bay, Newfoundland, says that tue monoplane Friendship, bearing Miss Amelia Earhart, a Boston society girl, tue pilot (Sturtz), and a navigator (Gordon) departed at 9.51 this morning for a European destination, probably Southampton. Weather conditions over the Atlantic were favourable.
ENGLISH WOMAN FINANCING IT
Received 2.15 p.m. to-day. LONDON, June 18
Mrs Guest, wife of a Conservative member of Parliament, is the prime mover in the “FriemdisUiip’is” flight, which She financed to the extent of at least £BOOO. She desired; to* participate, but her family .objected to the risk, upon wihicth she appointed Airs Earhart.
