Mr. and Mrs. Watson RusseLl, of Auckland, who have been staying at the Central Hotel oil a short visit to Hawera., left on their- return north by oar this morning. The Hon. O. J. Haw ken, Minister of Agriculture and Sir Walter Carneross, Speaker of the Legislative Council, were passengers by t-he mail train thte iiKining for Wellington. A London cable message announces the death of Airs. Emmeline Pankhurst. She was the leader in the militant suffragist campaign in England before the war, devoting several years of her life to the movement. She was the writer of a number of pamphlets on women’s suffrage, and also “My vhvji Story,” published in 1914. It 1 had been Mrs. Pankhurst’s intention to contest a seat at the coming general election.
