“BOBBY” CALVES.

LOWGARTH MEETING. UNANIMOUS RESPONSE. The move to establish pools for “'bobby” calves in -various parts of various parts of South Taranaki goes ahead steadily, and the last centre to come into flic business is Lomgatth, whore M r 0. Dickie addressed an- enthusiastic meeting on Saturday evening, Mr A. D. Johnson presiding. After Mr Dickie had addressed thio meeting on the subject on the ‘lines' of ■his previous addresses, a resolution to form a pool was carried unanimously. Those present stated their probable supplies, the total reaching nearly 600. Supplies from other farmers in the district would increase the to-tal probably to 1000. Mr Dickie said that his company -was in daily touch with the London market, and was thus able to send Home shipments so as to reach the market just when they were wanted. Ho also referred to the profits to be secured from the veils. Another feature is the use that can be made of the gelatine from the bones of the calvesi, which in young ■animats equals as much as 60 to 70 per cent. Various questions asked concerning delivery, the regulations made by ithe Department, grading of calves, and other matters relevant to- the scheme were answered by Mr Dickie. On the motion of Mr P. Wiliam,', seconded by Mr W. Richardson, it was resolved that a pool be formed for Lowgantli, both members expressing the opinion that as this was a farmers’ and a co-operative movement it should be supporting, and that the Paitea Gompany having initiated the scheme should get their business'. The motion was carried unanimously and arrangements were made to carry out a canvass of all settlers and to get all preliminary arrangements' made. A hearty vote of thainlas to- Mir Dickie and to the chairman- concluded the meeting.
