YOUR COLD ENGINE.

ALLOW IT TO WARM BEFORE YOU DRIVE AWAY. When, starting up your engine every morning, allow it to “tick” over and warm up before you drive away. This is more important if the first half-mile or so of your journey is uphill. When an engine is standing, and becomes cold, the oil has a- tendency- to drain away from some of the hearings into the sump. And when the oil is cold and thick it only flows sluggishly through the pipes and oil-ways. When the engine is splash lubricated the oil will drain away from the cylinder-walls and leave them too dry for efficient lubrication, if the engine is made to run fast as soon as it is started. ivy allowing the engine to idle, the oil becomes warmed up, end flows evenly and smoothly through all the important bearings. It also becomes ■ splashed” on to the cylinder walls and pistons. A cold engine allowed to race will sooner or later be lollowed by a big repair bill.
