Leslie, the nine-year-old son of the Paces, who referred to ‘-clad’’ and “mum” in his evidence for the prosecution, said that when his* father came from the hospital lie asked Leslie to bring the sheep dip box to his bedroom, where his father put it in a chest of drawers. He told how his father on Christmas day flourished a razor, saying that he would cut all their throats. Frederick Thorne, a constant visitor to Pace throughout his illness, said that the accused was a dutiful wife, devoted in every way, and he never complained about her. When Pace came from hospital and was placed in her care he improved rapidly.
