BORING FOR OIL.
PROMISING! INDICATIONS. WORK ON THE EAST COAST. [by telegraph—press association.] GISBORNE, June 2, “I regard the. development a® distinctly interesting,” IS'aid Mr Moline, general manager of Taranaki Oilfields, Ltd., when approached for an opinion concerning the recent development at Morere. Mr Moline declined to make a further statement on the matter beyond the last weekly report, which stated: — Gisborne No. lwell: Drilled to 2990 ft.. in sandy shale from 2950 fleet. Samples sniell'l freeh* of oil and give a strong reaction with chloroform.” It is understood that indication® are the most promising for some time, and bear out the conclusions of the company’s experts made prior to oommenceent of boring at Morere.
