PRIMARIES IN WEST VIRGINIA. ANOTHER SET 1 BACK FOI?i MR HOOV ER (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH —COPYRIGHT ) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) NEW YORK, May 30. Present reports from Charleston, West Virginia state the primaries show Mr Smith leading Mr Reed by a slight margin which may possibly be overcome in the final tabulation. Mr Hoover, against Mr Golf, appears to have met a similar tale as he did in Indiana, .Mr Goff being apparently victorious hut by no great number of votes. Mr Hoover’s hackers are claiming another ‘‘moral victory” in a. ■difficult field and believe lie may obtain some six of the 19 Republican delegates. Mr Hoover’s foes, however, are making inui’li of his defeat, and President Coolidge’s .supporters are cheered by Mr Goff’s run.
