COALMINERS ON STRIKE. MINE RECENTLY REOPENED. (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—BY ELECTRIC TELEG RAPIJ —COP Y RIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Received 1.3 Q p.m. to-day. SYDNEY, May 16. A strike occurred at A\ hitburn colliery yesterday because an employee was asked to begin work an hour sooner than the union’s pleasure. This lolliery has been idle through slackness of trade wince the beginning of the year. The Government recently granted it financial aid to reopen. Mr. C. McDonald, the mineowners’ chairman, declared that the public might easily be forgiven for believing that the northern coal miners did not want to work.
