HAWERA TRACK NOTES AND NEWS.

Barry having been engaged for Covent Garden in the Borough Handicap. P. Mutually who rode Bonogne in The Flying Handicap at the local meeting, is engaged to ride Day Guard in the sprint event at Wanganui. J. Coyle’s team, Keddar, Mister Gamp, Vexatious and Son o’ Mine were taken to Wanganui yesterday. T. Clark also went down with Comical. Guard, Bright Comet, Freeze Out and Dick, go through to-day. The latter who. was looked on as broken down hopelessly after the steeplechase on Thursday, has recovered surprisingly, and hopes are entertained of him seeing out another Great Northern contest.

Hipo and Onward were both in a bad way after the local meeting, and it will be some considerable time before either face the barrier again. Vivo is to be given a well-earned' spell. San F'era’s win in the Hack Steeplechase was extremely popular and it looks as if Martin Conways pa tier ce and perserverance with this fellow are being rewarded. Rereilioana is to be treated to a spell for a couple of months and lias been taken down to Mr. G. F. Moore’s station at ICai Iwi. O. Cox has had the Australian-bred six-year-old gelding, “March” brought in. This is a splendid type of horse apparently up to any weight and should make an ideal hurdler, as he is credited with possessing plenty of pace. Lady Cavendish has in all probability finished her racing career, as she is to be mated with Limond during the coming season.
