(From Our Own Correspondent.) ST. GEORGE 5 |S GRUBOH Tffo parishioners of St. George’s Anglican Church held their annual meeting on Monday, the Eev. O. Gibson presiding. CVIr T. E. Eoberts.gave an interesting account of the church finances during the past eight years and congratulated the parishioners on the success of their past year’s efforts. Mr C. E. .Honeyfield. endorsed the remarks made by iMr Eoberts and said that the vicar should be complimented upon his very full report. The reports and balance-sheet were then adopted. The officers elected for the ensuing year were as follows: Vicar’s warden, Mr G. E. Honeyfield; parishioner’s war. den, Mr AV. F. 'Sheild; vestry, Messrs C. Edwards, T. Eoberts, AV. Glenny, H. Findlay, F. Tarrant, iH. iGreen, Allowes and Hills; auditor, Mr F. T. Eay; sidesmen, Messrs W. Jones, F. Eay, A. H. Hodge, H. Edwards, E. Besley, E. C. Gilbert, E. Semple. The vicar stated that he had received an offer of £1 towards renewing the east window of the church. The matter was left in the hands of the vestry. On the motion of Mr Glenny votes of thanks were given to the members of the Ladies ’ Guild, who had rendered valuable help during the ye'ar. After business a dainty supper was handed round. EIFLE ASSOCIATION. The annual meeting of the Patea Bifle Association was hold during the week. Mr C. B. Honeyfield presiding. The annual balance-sheet, showing a credit of £9O was read and adopted - . The chairman, in moving the adoption of the balance-sheet, congratulated the association on the flourishing state of. its finances. He fully agreed with the recommendation made by the auditor, viz: That the balance in the bank l)C transferred to the Post Office Savings Bank in order to gain the interest. The motion was carried.

The chairman reported that he _ had forwarded the customary requisition for 5000 rounds of ammunition. He had also sent to the Defence Department a programme similar to last years and awaited its approval. The election - of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Mr A. T. Christensen; president, Mr C. Finlayson; executive, Messrs P. Palmer, A. Robertson, D. Boots, W. King, P O. Veale, A. Gower, 11. Mawhinney, V. G. Bockell, J. Dempsey, M. Carey, T. Thompson, J. Patterson, T. Geary and W. H. Watkins; chief executive officer, Mr M. Carey; auditor, Mr E. F. Hemingway; secretary and treasurer, iMr C. 11. Carey. The secretary, in thanking members for the bonus of £lO 10s granted to him, referred to the great assistance rendered him by Messrs J. Dempsey and C. Adams. With some minor alterations, it was unanimously resolved to adhere to last year’s programme. The secretary was empowered to have the 300 and 000 yards lengthened by six feet. The following were thanked for donations and assistance during the past season: Messrs E. ‘Thompson, .E. F. Hemingway, J. Dempsey, J. Cronin and W. E. Morse. The executive will meet fortnightly until the date of the meeting. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs L. Bobinson arc at present visiting Inglewood. Mr A. J. Fillings, formerly of the Patea railway staff, has been awarded the Boyal Humane ‘Society’s certificate of merit for attempting to rescue a school boy from droyming near the Patea bridge.
