BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS

SOME WANGANUI SCHOOLS. FARMERS’ UNION DISCUSSION. At the ordinary meeting yesterday of the South Taranaki Executive of the Farmers’ Union it was resolved to pay the amount £3 9s 6d, share of expenses in connection with the boys’ and girls’ root growing competitions in Opaku, Alton, Knkaramea and Hurleyville, schools which, though in the Wanganui education district. were worked under the South Taranaki scheme because 1 they were in this provincial district.

The matter of a general subsidy for the whole district- was deferred to a fuller meeting. Mr. H. E. Johnson said he would be sorry to see the schools “let. down,” and this sentiment was approved by all. Mr. E. Tv. Cameron said that the capitation was more than sufficient to pay prizes for this year. “We don’t know just where we stand,” said a member, and it was agreed that the whole matter should be thrashed out when all the delegates were present.
