DOCTOR CHARGED WITH INTOXICATION. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, May 1. Last) night, a motor car driven by a medical men mounted a safety zone in Queen Street and collided with the centre, tramway pole. This morning, before Mr. Hunt, S.M., the doctor concerned, who had spent the night in the police station, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a ear. He was remanded on bail of £IOO. On counsel's request the magistrate ordered that the accused’s name he suppressed in the meantime.

AUCKLAND, May 2. At the Police Court Sir Graime Lockhart, aged 31, ,was charged with being in a state of intoxication while in charge of a motor ear. He had his license cancelled for twelve months and was fined £SO, with an alternative-of three months’ imprisonment. THEFT OF MONEY ADMITTED. WELLINGTON, May 2. ; Thefts of amounts totalling £132 5s 8d from the Hutt Valley Power Board was admitted by a clerk, named Edgar Bulwer, aged 40, at the court to-day. The evidence stated that the accused was a meter reader and his duties were to read meters and collect money owing on accounts. Receipts had to bo given and duplicates taken for the board. It was discovered that a large number of consumers were in arrears, but many produced their receipts. Then it wasfound that accused had not mad© duplucatcs. The accused made restitution of £76 6s Gd, stating that this was the full amount taken, but subsequently other 'defalcations were found. The accused was committed for sentence. , . UNUSUAL CHARGES. CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. In the Magistrate’s Court, Harold E. Goggin, acting secretary of the Metropolitan Trotting Club and W. H. Angland. aged 40, a painter, and Eldward Valentine Shramba, aged 34, a labourer, was sentenced for breaking and entering and theft.
