A Government Bill to repeal the amendments to the Immigration Act adopted in 1919, after tlie Winnipeg strike, aroused keen Conservative opposition in the House of Commons. The amendments provide for the deportation, without a jury trial, of British subjects not born in Canada and belonging to Red organisations. A similar Bill to delete the criminal code provisions against sedition received its third reading. MEN FROM TRAINNG FARMS. Received 10.10 a.m. to-day. OTTAWA, May 1. News from Quebec says that Colonel H. J. Slibbard is there investigating opportunities for some of the thousand men for Canadian farms who are being sent from an agricultural training centre established in England by the British War Office.
