COURSING.

PATEA-HAWBR-A CLUB. A meeting of the committee of the Patea-Hawera Coursing Club was held on Saturday evening. Mr. J. A. McKenna presiding. The chairman informed members that the purpose of the meeting was to decide what events should be held at the first meeting of the 1928 season. The following suggestions were put to the meeting: (1) That the McKenna Cup and an open stake be run. 2) That a maiden event and an open stake be run. (3) That a Derby, Oaks and open stake be run. After some discussion it was finally decided to run the McKenna Cup and an open stake for Id dogs. It was decided to hold the first meeting on May 8 and 9, starting each day at 1 p.m., and also that the McKenna; Cup be unlimited.
