GIRL GUIDES.
DISTRICT COMMISSIONER APPOINTED. Miss R. 'Haivken, of Mok'oia, has been appointed as District Commissioner of the Girl Guides. The new district embraces Patea, Alton and Mokoia. 'There was a large attendance of committee members, -Guides and Brownies at Patea last night, when the new commissioner was introduced by the acting-Pfovineial Commissioner, Airs. J. Houston. A now company has been formed at Alton, and the -Guides under their act-ing-captain, Miss Gibb, came into Patea last night to be enrolled. Excelent progress has been made in guiding at the southern end of the South Taranaki division, and the'prospects for expansion in the new district arc very good.
