TOWN CLOCK.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Arising front an after dinner discussion I would like to write to your worthy paper to tell the purport of it, and trust you will grant the necessary space. Perhaps this topio has been mentioned before, but in any case the 1 fact remains that nothing material ■has been accomplished in the way_ of providing our town with a chiming clock. Surely, sir, -a town, the size of Hawera deserres one, and in my opinion it puts a polish to a town to hear the chimes, apart from the fact that a chiming clock is an asset. Whether the Government grants such requests or whether the money has to be> subscribed locally is a matter and. a duty for our town fat-hens to ponder over. Hoping to see this matter furthered, and trusting I have not intruded upon your valuable space. —I am, etc., TEMPOS.
