WOOL, HIDES, SKINS AND

TALLOW

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hawera, report having held their monthly sale at Stratford on the 20th dust., when to a full bench of New Zealand representative buyers they offered their catalogue, comprising 20 bales wool, 868 sheepskins, 392 hides, 10 tins and five casks tallow- Competition- was keen and prices fully maintained for the quality of produce offered. The range of prices were as undermentioned:—

Wool. Crossbred, fleece, bright, slightly biddd, 15-Ad per lb; crossbred lam bis, clean, dull in colour, 16d to 16Jd per lb; ditto fairly .to heavy biddi, 82d to 13d per lb; crossbred, dead, mixed, 11-id .per lb; black fleece, ,Bjd ppr lb; crossbred cruteh.ings, biddi, 6)d per lb; ditto ,locks and pices, sid. to 6d per lb.

Sheepskins "(dry).—Crossbred lambs, sound. 6s 8d each; ditto shorn sound, 2s lOd each; ditto pelts, from l.s 9d to- 2s 6d each; ditto quarter-woollpd, heavy in biddi, 5s 4d to 6s Id each; full woolled sound, 14s 9d each; ditto, torn and damaged, 8s 7d each; ditto dead, 4s 6d each. , Sheepskins (ealte). —'Crossbred lambs from 3s 6d to 6s lOd each; crossbred pelts from 2s 10d to 3s 4d each; crossbred woolley pelts, 5s 6d to 5s Id each; crossbred quarter-wools., from 4s lOd t<o 6s 9d each; crossbred half wools, 7s 7d each.

Hides. —Cowhides, 'average 441 bis, 49,s Gel each; ditto, averaging, 311bs, 35s 2d each; ditto, averaging 50lbs, 49s Gd; ditto cut, averaging 40lbs, 38s; _ ox hides, average 471bs, 46s 6d; bull 'hides, sound, averaging GUbs, 33s 4d; yearlings-, sound, average 221bs, 23s 2d. Calfskins. —Dry, 2s each; ditto cut, 45.-6 d; ditto slipy, 4s 7d; ditto seconds 5s 6d; ditto firsts, light, 5s 2d; ditto firsts, average slbs, 6s 7d each. Tallow. —Tins, fair quality, 21s per cwt.
