A motion to be projTOsed by Air C. H. Calran, Conservative, proposes that a, committee of eleven n.embers should inquire into the wl-o'o question of amending the Address to the King of May, 1919, asking ior a discontinuation of titles. *•
Budget changes in the i iriff on woollens brought sharp criticism in the House of Commons. Mr Bennett, the Tory leader, alleg'd that, the tariff iseeniud to be mor.idod by Huddersfield and Bradford rather than by Canadians for Canada, Mr Hugh Guthrie expressed resentment at what he termed the 'erference of Yorkshire mill men. The Hon. J. A. Robb, M < istor of Finance, remarked that there vers instances where Canadian manufacturers made representations to the B lush Government and similar movements had been made by tjie- Governments of South Africa, New Zealand and Australia! in efforts to obtain \ .iv-.leges in these markets. 'The debate' s'-owed that the woollen industry was nor prosperous. He defended the course fol - ed by the Government in giving greater concessions to raw material.
