SMUGGLING REVOLVERS
EFFORTS TO STOP ILLICIT TRAFFIC.

LONDON, March 23. Scotland Yard has 'discovered 56 revolvers and 10,000 rounds of ammunition secreted iu the London Docks. It is believed they came from Antwerp and were awaiting distribution. "There are a hundred Irish gunmen now in London engaged' in illicit trade in automatic revolvers, said the ‘ 1 Evening Standard ’ ’ a day or two ago. "Scotland Yard is -endeavouring to trace dumps of revolvers in London iu connection with a movement to smuggle them from the Continent in order to arm the Irish Republican . army. There as also a considerable illicit trade in revolvers among London criminals. "Scotland Yard suggests that the cat-o’-nine-tails may be necessary to stop illicit traffic in. firearms.’’
