At about 7.45 on Saturday evening the corner of Tawliiti Road and Campbell Street, Nolantown, was the scene of a collision between a motor-car driven by a well-known native named Joe Pohi, and a loose horse owned by Mr. J. Campbell, carrier. It appeared that the horse was crossing the road, following its owner towards a paddock where it was kept at night, when the car crashed into it, and the force of the impact may be judged by the fact that the unfortunate liorse was terribly injured and laid right across the radiator of the car. Tho motor skidded and crashed into a hedge at the side of the road, where it came to rest with the front portion considerably damaged. The horse died within a few minutes of the collision, and the driver of the car, who was the sole occupant, escaped with nothing more than a severe fright.
