PATEA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) BOWLING. Two prominent members of the Bowling Club, Messrs W. Crawford and D. Finlay, who are leaving (Patea shortly, were farewelled at the local green on Wednesday last, when bowlers gathered in full force. Tn the unavoidable absence of the president, Mr A. T. Christensen presented each gentleman with a handsome pocket wallet. Jl r Christensen voiced the regret not only of bowlers, but of citizens generally, that the town was losing such valuable citizen's and such enthusiastic bowlers. While they -were sorry to lose them, their congratulations were hearty and sincere, for both were departing because they had gained promotion. On behalf of all lie wished Messrs Crawford and Finlay and their families all success and prosperity in their new homes and hoped that the little gifts would serve to remind them of many happy bowling days.. Both’ gentlemen suitably responded and were given three hearty cheers. Mr L. Torrens has returned to Patea. Mr and Mrs 11. Findlay are at pres ent making an extensive motor tour through the northern districts of the North Island. They are at present at Russell.
