DEATH BY CO A L GAS POISONING
[by. telegraph press association. ) CJHRISTCH UROH, March 1 -5, A verdict of suicide by inhaling coal ga>; while in an unsound state of mind was given by the coroner, Mr, Young. S.M., following an inquest into the death of Margaret Ellen Marshall, vbo was found dead at her home at New Brighton on February 2. Dr. McKillop, superintendent of the Sunny-side Mental Hospital, gave evidence that the woman bad been admitted as a mental patient last yeai, suffering from melancholia. She improved a good deal and was placed on parole on February 1, appearing to- be in her usual state- of health. She went out walking with a party, but disappeared. No anxiety was felt- as she often spent an evening at her home. There was nothing to suggest suicidal tendencies. FATAL MOTOR ACCIDENT. PALMERSTON N., March 15. An accident attended hv fatal -results occurred near Bunnythorne, this afternoon. when James Irvine, a Palmerston North draper’s traveller, married, acred 50. went over an incline on the road in bis car and wa-s killed Instantly. The rear wheel broke and before the driver could regain control of the wobbling motor it left the road and somersaulted. Irvine was discovered with bis head crushed and Iris neck broken.
