Karius, assistant resident magistrate of 'Papua, as visiting Sydney after an extended exploration’tour. He and another white official made a trip through .poi’.tions of unexplored Papua, spending several months, fighting through most difficult country and encountering many dangers, being enfeebled by fever and a shortage of food. The expedition definitely established the fact that Spik, Fly, Poliver and 'Strickland Rivers all have their sources in the mandated territory, within a few miles of each other.
